His sister investigates and finds out a malevolent dwarf that presides over the park has a contract on her brother's soul and she must perform tasks and solves riddles to get it out of a safe and tear it up.There are about a dozen locations to explore in the game including a haunted house, pirate ship, puppet theater and circus tent. You enter the attractions by collecting coins over the course of the game and redeeming them for tickets obtained by spinning a big wheel and playing a Match 3 game. The hidden object scenes dominate this game; you revisit each two or three times. Every scene contains one object that you have to perform some action to obtain (for example dipping a light bulb in a can of red paint to get a red light bulb). As a bonus you can also collect starfish and the brother's marbles hidden throughout the game. A few objects per scene are hard to find, but I couldn't... You are plunged into an atmosphere of an amusement park that looks bright on the surface but is really decaying and is really evil, a miasma hovering over everything. It is winter with the trees bare and seeming to writhe and sullen leaves blow in your path. The extremely cluttered hidden object scenes are very clear and in sharp focus and will send HOG enthusiasts straight to Nirvana. However, some objects are miniscule or tucked into dark areas. Often you have to combine two objects before you can clear them- such as putting black stripes on a white horse with a paintbrush to get the required zebra. One object to be found in each search environment will go into your inventory for use later and it's not always easy to figure out what does... I play hidden object games (HOG) only occasionally; mostly I prefer puzzle games. This casual game is very well done considering how inexpensive it is. The atmosphere is, well, dreamy without being too dark and there is a definite you-are-good vs. evil theme to the game. And (very important!) the artwork is nice. I purchased this from Amazon and it is the extended version. That is, after you free your brother and win the game, you continue a bit and free the other souls who were previously trapped by the wicked dwarf. The puzzles are fun and not too hard. If you think you're stuck, don't give up and look up the answer online (you'll be mad at yourself later). All you need to solve the problem is included in the game, and if you just can't see it, the hint system works well everywhere, not just the HOG scenes. The hints are unlimited--you just have to wait for a recharge. However, keep in mind that you win an award for using less... Read more |
